An exciting find, these loveliest of old earrings are a rhapsody of exquisite ornamentation, distinctively in the French style dating to the late 19th century. Converting from a 'Daytime' pair of Pearl and Rose Cut Diamond Dormeuse earrings to a much grander pair for evening by threading the fancy lower jewels on. Cleverly fashioned, wholly in quality 18ct yellow Gold, light and lovely they are decorated with star motifs studded with old Sea Pearls, very much in the fashion of the time and with such a striking historical look.
The 'Day' earrings measure 13mm from the top of the wire and the 'Night' 4cm, they have French Assay marks to the earwires, which thread from the back to the front in the Continental way.
